Even strong relationships go through challenges

Relationships are complex. They require attention, space and a connection like no other bond. Difficulties such as anger, a breech of trust, lack of connection or stressful life situation can overshadow the happiness you once felt.

With couples counseling, we can equip you with the tools and support you need to work through it together.

Couples Counseling

We are committed to supporting you and your partner

Common struggles faced by couples include:

Infidelity or Healing Broken Trust
Infidelity can cause deep emotional pain, leaving trust severely damaged. It’s a challenging situation, but not insurmountable. We can help you navigate these rough waters, helping you understand the reasons behind the betrayal and working with you to rebuild the trust that was lost.
Lack of Healthy Communication Skills
Communication is fundamental to a strong relationship. When misunderstandings lead to disagreements, it can become difficult to express your feelings without conflict. Our goal is to help you develop empathetic communication skills to better understand each other, reducing conflict and enhancing connection.
Control Issues: Resolving Imbalance In The Relationship
A healthy relationship is based on mutual respect and balance. If you’re facing issues of control, it can feel like your relationship is more of a power struggle than a partnership. We are here to help you redefine this balance, creating an environment where both partners feel valued and respected.
Unhealthy Boundaries: Balancing Indiividuality And Partnership
Maintaining your individuality within a relationship is crucial. Fear of losing oneself in a partnership is common, and we’re here to assist you in establishing healthy boundaries. This can strengthen your individual self while also fostering a more balanced and respectful relationship.
Emotional Abandonment: Restoring Emotional Closeness
The feeling of being emotionally abandoned by your partner can be very painful. If you’re experiencing this, we’re here to help. Our aim is to explore and resolve these feelings, working to restore the emotional closeness that’s integral to a supportive and fulfilling relationship.
Impact of Parenthood: Maintaining Connection and Intimacy
Having children can drastically change the dynamics of a relationship. While it’s a joyous event, it can often lead to a decrease in connection and intimacy between partners. We can help guide you through this transition, ensuring that you maintain a strong bond and a sense of partnership along with your new roles as parents.

If your relationship is experiencing:

FAQS

Questions About Couples Counseling

Does my partner still want me?
Desire in a relationship can fluctuate over time due to various factors such as stress, emotional disconnect, or changes in life circumstances. It’s natural to have doubts, but they often don’t reflect your partner’s true feelings. It’s important to have open and honest conversations about your concerns. Couples therapy can provide a safe and supportive space for these discussions, helping you understand each other’s needs and feelings better.
Am I the problem?
It’s not beneficial to label one person as “the problem” in a relationship. Issues usually arise from patterns of interaction between partners rather than from one individual’s behavior. A therapist can help you identify these patterns and work towards healthier dynamics, where both partners share responsibility for the relationship’s wellbeing.
How does talking in couples counseling change things?
Communication is key in any relationship. It allows us to express our feelings, needs, and desires. In therapy, structured and guided conversations can foster understanding, empathy, and compromise. It can help unravel misunderstandings and encourage mutual respect and compassion, ultimately leading to positive changes in the relationship.
Will therapy actually fix my relationship?
While every relationship is unique, many can be improved with commitment, effort, and professional guidance. Therapy provides a space to explore and address issues, develop healthier communication skills, and build mutual understanding and respect. Even in difficult situations, change is possible when both partners are willing to work on their relationship. In therapy, we will learn about your situation and help you take the steps to know what is the best resolution to the issues you are facing.
Do you offer premarital counseling?
As you prepare for marriage, we can help you set up for success. Strong marriage foundations are built on open communication, mutual respect, shared values, and understanding each other’s needs. Pre-marital counseling can be a great way to strengthen these foundations. It can help you address potential areas of conflict, set realistic expectations, and equip you with the tools to navigate challenges effectively.
How can we get on the same page about our family?
Agreeing on family matters requires open and respectful dialogue about each partner’s expectations and concerns. Therapy can provide a space for these conversations, helping you build mutual understanding and create a shared vision for your family. This process can strengthen your relationship and create a more harmonious family life.
