It's not simply about taking medicine

Do you find it difficult to keep track of your medications? Are you concerned about potential drug interactions or side effects? Do you sometimes forget to take your medicine, or feel overwhelmed by complex medication instructions?

It doesn’t have to be this way.

We can help you understand, manage, and use your medicine to effectively improve your health and quality of life.

What is medication management?

As therapists, we have an expert understanding how medications work, interact, and affect your body. It’s not simply about taking medicine, but about understanding, managing, and using them to improve your health and quality of life effectively.

Medication management is a patient-centered healthcare service designed to optimize drug therapy outcomes.

Your session will be facilitated by our psychiatric nurse practitioner, who will listen to your medication history and needs, provide helpful guidance, and prescribe any necessary medications.

We can help develop a medication regimen that works for you.

If you have been prescribed medication over a long period of time or by various doctors, your current regimen may:

Reduce the effectiveness of your medicines

Cause severe side effects

Cost you more money per month

Infinity Mental Health

Who is it for?

Medication management therapy can be beneficial for people who have:

Multiple Medications or Complex Medication Regimes

Navigating through a regimen of multiple medications can be daunting. Each medication has its unique instructions, potential side effects, and possible interactions with other drugs. The complexity only increases when your treatment involves various medications for different health conditions. This situation often leads to confusion, errors, or non-compliance with the regimen.

Our Medication Management Therapy simplifies this process, creating an organized, understandable, and effective plan tailored to your specific needs. We help you understand the purpose of each medication and the optimal way to take them for the best outcomes.

Chronic Illnesses Requiring Long-Term Medication

Managing a chronic illness can be challenging, especially when it involves long-term medication use. You may find yourself juggling several prescriptions, each with its unique requirements, and the continuous nature of chronic disease treatment might feel overwhelming.

With Medication Management Therapy, we help you transform this journey into a manageable part of your daily routine. We work with you to understand your illness and your medication, helping to optimize its benefits while minimizing any potential side effects. Difficulty Managing or Remembering To Take Medications

Forgetting to take medications or having trouble managing them is common, especially for individuals with busy lifestyles, cognitive impairment, or those dealing with multiple medications. These challenges can compromise the effectiveness of your treatment.

Our Medication Management Therapy offers strategies to overcome these hurdles. We provide personalized counseling and tools that promote adherence to medication schedules, such as reminder systems or simplifying dosing regimens. We empower you to make your medication routine a seamless part of your life.

Concerns About Medication Side Effects or Interactions

Medications, while beneficial, can also come with potential side effects or interactions, which can be worrying. Sometimes, these concerns may even deter individuals from taking their medications as prescribed.

In our Medication Management Therapy, we prioritize your safety. We thoroughly evaluate your medication regimen for any possible interactions or side effects. We also educate you about what to expect from each medication, the signs of potential side effects, and how to manage them if they occur. This comprehensive approach helps alleviate your concerns and promotes safe, effective medication use.

A Need For A Better Understanding Of Their Medication

Understanding the ‘whys’ and ‘hows’ of your medication can be as important as taking them. When you comprehend why you’re taking a certain medication and how it works, you’re more likely to adhere to your regimen and communicate any concerns or side effects. However, medical language can often be complex and confusing. That’s where our Medication Management Therapy comes in.

We demystify the medical jargon and explain your medications in understandable terms. By fostering your understanding, we enhance your confidence and engagement in managing your health.

FAQS

Questions About Medication Management

How long will medication take to show change in my life?
The time it takes for medication to show change in your life varies greatly depending on the type of medication, the condition being treated, your individual body chemistry, and other factors. Some medications can show effects immediately, while others might take several weeks or even months. Your therapist will provide an estimated timeline based on your specific circumstances.
Will I be forced to take something I don’t want?
Absolutely not. Medication Management Therapy is a collaborative process. You have the right to understand your treatment and to voice your concerns or preferences. Your therapist will work with you to find a treatment plan that you are comfortable with and that meets your health needs.
Will the nurse practitioner listen to my concerns and care?
Absolutely. Your concerns are a fundamental part of the medication management process. Your nurse will always be open to listening to your concerns, answering your questions, and addressing any hesitations you might have. They care about your well-being and aim to make the process as comfortable, understandable, and beneficial for you as possible.
How will the medication impact my body? What are the side effects?

The impact of medication on your body and the potential side effects vary significantly based on the specific medication and your individual body’s response to it. Some common side effects can include fatigue, headache, nausea, or dizziness, but these depend on the medication. Your therapist will explain the potential side effects of your prescribed medications, what you should do if you experience them, and how to differentiate between mild side effects and serious adverse reactions.

How long will I be on medication?
The duration of your medication treatment depends on the nature of the condition being treated, your individual health needs, and your response to the medication. Some conditions require long-term or even lifetime medication use, while others may only require a short course of treatment. Your therapist will discuss with you the expected duration of your medication regimen and will continuously reassess as your treatment progresses.
